The hiking opportunities in and around the Metolius Basin are as beautiful as they are varied. Choose from bona fide wilderness trails in the High Cascades to more tranquil strolls around Suttle Lake or along the Metolius River. In early summer, beautiful wildflowers pepper the meadows and become their own “live art”. In the fall, ensure you head out for some hikes higher into the Cascades to take in the changing color of the Vine Maples ~ a fabulous sight with black lava as the back drop. Depending on the snow levels you can hike the Metolius River or Suttle Lake year-round. If too much snow, bring your snowshoes instead.
