Not everybody thinks of winter fishing which makes this a very quiet time on the lakes and rivers. The Metolius can be a difficult river to fish but during the winter the Bull trout will eat nearly anything you put in front of them. Favorite flies are big, heavy, streamers. As the days grow longer and warmer, look for Rainbows and Browns to be feeding on the surface between 10am and 2pm. Suttle Lake is one of the few lakes available for winter fishing and would definitely be a good choice for something a little less challenging. These fishing reports will provide more information on fishing the Metolius as well as other lakes and rivers in our region.
